Boston Red Sox Bring a Strong Middle Infield into 2017 Season
As a staff attorney at Plymouth Rock Assurance, Boston-based attorney Edward Cerruti draws on his significant trial experience at multiple levels of the Massachusetts state court system to provide insurance defense. When not busy litigating, Edward Cerruti spends time rooting for the Boston Red Sox.
Going into the 2017 season, second baseman Dustin Pedroia and shortstop Xander Bogaerts are preparing once again to man the Boston Red Sox middle infield. Now in their fourth straight season together, the pair have maintained a stability that exceeds any other part of the team’s lineup.
Pedroia, 33, had health problems in 2015 with an injured hamstring. However, in 2016 he had recovered enough to be an offensive threat, hitting 15 home runs, 74 RBIs, and 36 doubles. Also returning to his superior form on defense, he contended for the American League Gold Glove Award.
While only 24, Bogaerts nevertheless was one of the league’s best hitters in the first half of the 2015 season. A need for consistency was evident in the second half as his batting average and other statistics declined. Playing in 157 games, a personal best, may have fatigued him.
Pedroia and Bogaerts have a chance to stay in their positions for some time, as Pedroia’s contract extends through 2021 and Bogaert’s through 2019.

The Social Events of the Wessagussett Yacht Club
A member of the Massachusetts Bar in good standing for more than two decades, Edward Cerruti has served as a staff attorney in the Boston area since 1999. Outside of the professional arena, he engages in athletic activities that range from weight lifting and mountain biking to jiu-jitsu and yoga. Also an avid boating enthusiast, Edward Cerruti maintains active membership in the Wessagussett Yacht Club.
Located next to Wessagussett Beach at the mouth of the Weymouth Fore River, the Wessagussett Yacht Club does more than help area boaters store and launch their vessels. The cooperative and member-maintained yacht club also hosts a range of services and events from its headquarters, a large building with a porch/deck that offers scenic views of Hingham Bay and the Boston Harbor Islands.
The annual events of the Wessagussett Yacht Club include winter and summer socials, spring and fall dances, the Salem Overnight Cruise, and multiple Quincy Bay Race Week events. During Christmas, the Club sponsors both a Christmas social and a children’s Christmas party. The Wessagussett Yacht Club even turns boat maintenance into a social event, recently organizing a club painting and sailboat repair work party.

The ALS Association Combats Lou Gehrig’s Disease

Since graduating in 1994 with a juris doctor from the Massachusetts School of Law, Boston-based attorney Edward Cerruti has gained admittance to the Massachusetts Bar and the United States District Court. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Edward Cerruti is a charitable donor to the ALS Association.
The ALS Association funds research into combating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. One recipient of its funding is Dr. Steven Finkbeiner. A researcher at the Gladstone Institutes, a nonprofit medical research organization in San Francisco, Dr. Finkbeiner is currently working on an automated microscopy system called Brain Bot, which will change how scientists study cells in a dish.
Recognizing the high value of this cutting-edge technology, the ALS Association is funding Dr. Finkbeiner through a partnership, referred to as the Neuro Collaborative, of three leading laboratories in California. The Brain Bot works by assigning a unique, IP address-like code to each cell to monitor the cell over time. Of particular interest is the ability of the technology to track the health of motor neurons whose degradation leads to the ALS disease.
